Los Angeles Ban the Box Ordinance

Employment Screening Resources® (ESR) offers employers in the City of Los Angeles a Ban the Box Ordinance Infographic that outlines employment requirements and impact of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance (FCIHO) that took effect January 22, 2017. The Ban the Box ordinance requires employers in Los Angeles with 10 or more employees to remove the question on employment applications that asks applicants about past criminal records. Employers would also have to follow certain notice and posting requirements as well as additional rules regarding adverse action, the Fair Chance Process, and record retention.
