The Top Ten Trends for Background Checks in 2011 - What Every Employer Needs to Know

Lester Rosen, Esq., President, Employment Screening Resources (ESR)

Description:

Employers have long recognized that conducting due diligence on new hires is a mission critical task. Firms can’t afford problems stemming from bad hires such as workplace violence, theft, false resumes, embezzlement, harassment or trumped-up injury claims especially since employers can now be the subject of lawsuits for negligent hiring if they hire someone that they should have known, through the exercise of due diligence, was dangerous, unfit, dishonest or unqualified. This session will review the top ten trends, best practices and legal developments for 2011 when it comes to background checks and safe hiring. Topics will include: social networking sites, international background screening, resume fraud, temporary workers, privacy, off-shoring of personal data, as well as tools to protect against workplace violence. In addition, cutting-edge issues such as the new EEOC focus on criminal records and credit reports will be examined in detail. Finally, attendees will learn legally complaint best practices to keep an organization productive, safe and out of court.
