Small and medium businesses can now have all of the tools and resources available to Fortune 500 firms, in an easy to use and hassle free online system backed by a firm that is an industry leader in safe hiring.  A one-time set-up fee* of $125.00  gives access to an easy to use and intuitive online system to conduct essential background checks such as criminal records, driving records, sex offender information and past employment, credential  or education checks.  

Features  of the ESRDirect Small  Business Division include: 

• Complete control over what you order and what you spend -- Secure on line ordering and credit card payment means you know what you are spending ahead of time.
• If a report comes back with a "hit" or ""discrepancy," an ESR Background Specialists is available for consultation.
• Daily progress reports by e-mail.
• Pending and Completed reports available to users 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. Authorized users can view the current status of the report in real time at any time.
• Look up Applicants by name, social security number or status of report.
• Instant Social Security Trace--Provides names and addresses associated with the applicant's social security number. The Social Security Trace can help determine where to search for criminal records and help identify any undisclosed jurisdictions that may contain criminal records.
• Additional services such as Licensing Verification Service: Verify the date issued, expiration date and status of a professional license.

 The system is as easy as ordering a book online.  At checkout, view the final amount and simply use a credit card --no surprises.  ESR provides the necessary forms for the applicant to sign.  Sign -up consists of a very simple online process.  A small and medium business can be ready to go in 24 hours or less.  
 

*NOTE:  The set-up fee and fee for services are waived for non-profit, charitable or service organizations or faith based organizations.  Examples are groups that provide volunteer services, charitable services, youth services, youth sports, religious schools or similar services.  Please call ESR for details.   

How to use it:

• E-mail ESR and Request a link to the New Client Agreement and the forms that your applicants must sign.
• Provide authorization for a $125 charge against a credit card for account set-up.
• Receive Disclosure and Authorization forms that all applicants must sign.
• Receive your password and start to enter requests for background checks.
• Works with a Windows based PC using Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater (sorry, not MAC friendly at this time).

NOTE on CREDIT REPORTS:  To protect privacy, credit reports are NOT available through the Small Business Division.  However, an employer utilizing this service who needs a credit reports can direct applicants to obtain their own credit reports by going to www.annualcreditreport.com, the site set up to allow consumers to access a free copy of his or her credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus once a year. 

 Additional Details:

For emerging, small and medium businesses that do not hire in large numbers, background screening has been a problem. Many screenings firm are not able to give small businesses their full attention. For a small business to order online. they must often use a complicated ordering system that is difficult to remember if not used frequently  Often time, the bill is a big surprise, if extra fees are tacked on for court costs or third party fees from employers or schools or former names are also searched

However, by utilizing the ESR Small Business Division, a small or medium business can now have all of the service and expertise that large firms enjoy with simplified order entry and complete control over costs.  

The small business can decide how extensive to make the search AND know the exact cost before the order is finalized.  If the search shows that there were additional places that could be checked, or additional names to search under, the business can decide if they want to perform and expanded search. 

Unlike web sites that are purely online data ordering sites with no one to talk to, ESR background specialists are available  for consultation as part of the service. 

NOTE: ESR does not offer services to employers in Nevada. For Nevada firm, ESR will be pleased to make referral to a firm that is licensed by the State of Nevada. 

Privacy considerations and additional details: ESR values consumer privacy and protection of confidential consumer data, and therefore takes all measures to protect and safeguard data. For an employer to utilize this service, ESR goes through a "know your client" procedures in accordance with FCRA section 607(a) in order to establish that the client is a legitimate business with a permissible purpose for the background data In addition, ESR does NOT supply credit reports or any credit bureau information through this service. As further protection,  ESR does not research or supply a social security number that is different then the social security number submitted by  the applicant pursuant to the applicant's written consent.    ESR also operates under state of the art encryption and Internet security.

The bottom line: Employers get the information they need to exercise due diligence, and job applicants know they are working for an employer who values a safe and profitable workplace with qualified co-workers, in a process where consumer data is protected.
