What We Do

ESR is like having your own in-house screening specialists.  We make it easy to protect your firm through pre-employment screening background checks. 

We specialize in background screenings. ESR is a Consumer Reporting  Agency (CRA) and Human Resources consulting firm providing pre-employment screening reports to Employers, Human Resources and Security departments. Our exceptionally qualified staff is dedicated to promoting a safe and profitable workplace through  employment pre-screening and credentials verification.  ESR combines human resources, public records and legal expertise in providing your company with fast, accurate and cost-effective employment pre-screening.

We understand that companies need a program that fits seamlessly into their hiring practices. Our focus is in working with Human Resources and Security Departments. Unlike other firms, ESR is not just a data gathering service providing computer printouts or raw data. Our reports make the information easy to understand.  We look for "red flags" that may concern an employer. We provide human resources policy notes where applicable based upon industry standards. Because the applicants we screen may become your trusted employees, the process is designed to respect applicant privacy.

Furthermore, ESR has a full time legal staff to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. Although ESR does not give legal services to its clients, ESR does ensure that its processes are in compliance with legal requirements, especially the fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).  

ESR was started by an experienced law enforcement officer  with extensive experience in corporate security, and a criminal law attorney. ESR is a division of a California Corporation, and from it's headquarters in the San Francisco area, assist employers of all sizes across the United States, from Fortune  500 firms to high-tech start-ups.

The People Behind ESR  

Unlike other firms that utilize clerical staff members to simply retrieve data from computer services, ESR is a professional background firm with a professional staff. Every background specialist at ESR has at a minimum a four year college degree and experience in background screening. That means at ESR, we do more for you. That is why many well-managed and cost-conscious firms depend upon ESR to provide the due diligence they need in their hiring program.

Please Note: All services are strictly limited to the pre-employment stage, and requires the applicant's written consent under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. ESR is strictly a CRA as defined in the FCRA.  ESR cannot assist any employer who is concerned about misconduct by a current employee and seeks to do an investigation without first obtaining the employee's' written consent and authorization.  In that situation, an employer needs to consult with a private investigator and/or an attorney. ESR does not offer  legal services, and nothing on the ESR site is intended or offered as legal advice.  Any references to legal matters are intended solely to alert employers to possible legal issues, so they can consult counsel.  ESR does not offer any investigative services. However, for purposes of compliance with California requirements, ESR maintains a Private Investigator's license in California,  Private Investigator Number 21580 AKA First Check.
