Hurricane Sandy Closes Multiple USCIS Offices for Tuesday October 30

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has sent a bulletin that states several offices will be closed or open late on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 due to Hurricane Sandy, a “superstorm” that has battered the Atlantic Coast from North Carolina to New England with flooding, high winds, and downed trees and has left more than 30 people dead in the U.S. so far and approximately six million without power. The bulletin from the USCIS – the government agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States and runs the federal E-Verify electronic employment eligibility verification system – states the following offices will be closed Tuesday, October 30 unless noted with their delayed opening time:

  • Connecticut: Hartford, CT Field Office; Hartford Application Support Center, East Hartford, CT.
  • Delaware: Dover, DE Satellite Office & Application Support Center.
  • Maryland: Baltimore, MD District Office & Field Office; Baltimore, MD Application Support Center; Glenmont Application Support Center, Wheaton, MD; Salisbury, MD Application Support Center.
  • Massachusetts: Boston, MA District Office & Field Office; Lawrence, MA Field Office & Application Support Center; Boston, MA Application Support Center.
