Private sector employment in the U.S. increased by 135,000 jobs from April 2013 to May 2013 on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the May 2013 ADP National Employment Report® produced by Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP®) in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics. The report, which also revised the estimated gain from March 2013 to April 2013 down from 119,000 jobs to 113,000 jobs, is available at http://www.adpemploymentreport.com/2013/May/NER/NER-May-2013.aspx.
“The majority of new jobs in May came from the service-providing sector, which added a total of 138,000 jobs, while the goods-producing sector recorded a loss of 3,000 jobs. Notably, a gain of 5,000 jobs in the construction industry during May was offset by a decline of 6,000 lost jobs in the manufacturing industry,” ADP President and CEO Carlos A. Rodriguez stated in a press release available at http://www.adpemploymentreport.com/2013/May/NER/docs/ADP-NATIONAL-EMPLOYMENT-REPORT-May2013-Final-Press-Release.pdf.
