February ADP Employment Report Shows 139000 Jobs Added

Employment ReportPrivate sector employment in the United States increased by 139,000 jobs from January 2014 to February 2014, according to the February 2014 ADP National Employment Report® produced by Automatic Data Processing, Inc. “The U.S. private sector added 139,000 jobs in February, well below the average over the last 12 months,” ADP president and chief executive officer Carlos A. Rodriguez stated in a press release available at http://www.adpemploymentreport.com/2014/February/NER/docs/ADP-NATIONAL-EMPLOYMENT-REPORT-February2014-Final-Press-Release.pdf.

Key findings of the February 2014 ADP National Employment Report includes the following (sum of components in report may not equal total due to rounding):

  • Small businesses representing payrolls with 1 to 49 employees added 59,000 jobs.
  • Medium businesses representing payrolls with 50 to 499 employees added 35,000 jobs.
  • Large businesses representing payrolls with 500 or more employees added 44,000 jobs.
  • Service providing sector added 120,000 jobs.
  • Goods producing sector added 19,000 jobs.
  • Professional/business services added 33,000 jobs.
  • Trade/transportation/utilities added 31,000 jobs.
  • Construction added 14,000 jobs.
  • Manufacturing added 1,000 jobs.
  • Financial activities lost 2,000 jobs.

The ADP National Employment Report is a monthly measure of the change in total U.S. nonfarm private employment derived from actual, anonymous payroll data of nearly 24 million U.S. workers from client companies served by ADP. The March 2014 ADP National Employment Report will be released on April 2, 2014.
