As part of the $38.2 billion in discretionary funds requested for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the White House DHS budget proposes $124 million for the government’s E-Verify employment eligibility verification system, according to a news article posted on FedWeek.com available at http://www.fedweek.com/item-view.php?tbl=15&ID=141.
FedWeek.com reports the proposed funding will “support, expand, and enhance” E-Verify while bolstering the system’s fraud prevention and detection capabilities and providing for additional customer service enhancements. More than 500,000 employers are currently enrolled in E-Verify and the program continues to grow by approximately 1,500 new employers each week.
