On April 25, 2012, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued new Guidance on the use of criminal records in hiring decisions. Two years later, employers still needing help to ensure compliance while performing criminal background checks. - Session #2 – Negligent Hiring and Background Checks-Best Practices and Legal Compliance – Date/Time: Wednesday, April 30, 2014 / 9:45 AM – 11:00 AM EST at Gaylord Opryland (1.25 HR Credit): Attendees to this session will learn legally complaint best practices to keep their company productive and out of court, including how to obtain and utilize criminal record and background information on job applicants. Attendees will get an overview of the basics of a negligent hiring lawsuit and defenses that work and do not work and get acquainted with cutting-edge issues such as the new EEOC focus on criminal records and credit reports and the use of social network sites. They will also learn how to spot fraudulent employment and education credentials.
