The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) – the federal government agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States – has scheduled free E-Verify and Form I-9 webinars for employers in February 2015. U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens with authorization. E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows employers to determine the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States by checking information enter on the ‘Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification’ filled out by newly hired workers.
