The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) – a non-profit trade association representing background screening organizations – has announced that a record-breaking 817 background screening professionals attended the 2017 NAPBS Annual Conference held in Orlando, Florida from September 17 to 19, 2017.

NAPBS reports the record-breaking number of attendees at the conference gathered for three days of educational programs focused around the theme of “Creating Magical Connections.” The sold-out Exhibit Showcase featured 66 companies supplying products or services to the background screening profession.

“With each of us committed to leading the way in excellence and then sharing our knowledge and experiences with others, our association continues to work to keep our members operating at the highest level,” NAPBS 2017-18 Chair Scott Hall stated in a press release about the NAPBS annual conference.

The NAPBS conference offered 29 educational sessions on topics affecting the background screening industry that included strategic business sessions, futuristic technology, legal issues, “how to” programs, international screening techniques, compliance guidelines, and the future of consumer reporting agencies.

The NAPBS conference keynote session “Lessons in Leadership, Management and Customer Service. YOU Can Create Disney Magic Too!” featured Lee Cockerell, former Executive Vice President of Operations for the Walt Disney World® Resort, who shared his insights on understanding customer and employee expectations, among other things.

For the 2017 conference, the NAPBS also supported the Sue Weaver CAUSE through donations on behalf of speakers and also hosted a charity golf tournament which raised $18,000 to benefit the Sue Weaver CAUSE, a nonprofit organization advocating for the proper use of criminal background checks.

Upcoming NAPBS events include the 2018 Mid-Year Legislative & Regulatory Conference held April 15 to 17, 2018, in Washington, D.C., and the 2018 Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, held October 7 to 9, 2018. The complete press release about the 2017 NAPBS Annual Conference is available here.

Founded in 2003, the NAPBS is the leading national resource for issues related to the background screening profession and the foremost leader in establishing generally accepted and reliable standards for background screening organizations. To learn more about the NAPBS, visit www.napbs.com.
