Background Screening Expert Attorney Lester Rosen to Speak at SHRM 2018 Talent Conference and Exposition

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – the world’s largest HR professional society – will hold the SHRM 2018 Talent Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 16 to 18, 2018, that will feature speakers such as background screening expert Attorney Lester Rosen, founder and CEO of leading global background check firm Employment Screening Resources (ESR).

Rosen will present two sessions at the conference: “It’s a Litigation Jungle Out There! Avoiding Legal Claims with Compliant Background Screening” on April 17, 2018, from 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM Pacific Time and “Social Media Background Screening. Is it Right for My Company?” on April 18, 2018, from 9:45 AM to 11:00 AM Pacific Time. Both sessions are worth 1.25 SHRM Professional Development Credits (PDCs).

In the session “It’s a Litigation Jungle Out There! Avoiding Legal Claims with Compliant Background Screening”, Rosen will provide updates on federal and state laws, lawsuits, and regulations controlling pre-employment background checks so attendees may audit their organization’s current practice. The session will also examine ten key areas of compliance to help hire the best while avoiding legal fallout.

In the session “Social Media Background Screening. Is it Right for My Company?,” Rosen will show how to navigate through the legal and practical pitfalls of using social media as part of the hiring process. This session will examine the pros and cons of utilizing social media, including what information is available online, discrimination issues, use of legal off-duty conduct, and privacy, accuracy, and authenticity.

Rosen – author of the “The Safe Hiring Manual” –  is a frequent presenter nationwide on background screening issues and has testified as an expert witness in court cases. He was also the chairperson of the steering committee that founded the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS), a trade organization for the background screening industry, and served as first co-chair.
