Dawn Standerwick Recognized as Longest Serving NAPBS Board Member after Nine Years of Service

Dawn Standerwick Recognized as Longest Serving NAPBS Board Member

Written By Employment Screening Resources® (ESR)

The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) – the global authority for the background screening profession – has recognized Dawn Standerwick, Vice President of Strategic Growth at Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), as the longest serving board member in the history of the NAPBS with nine years of service, four as a Regular Director and five serving on the Executive Committee as Secretary, Treasurer, Chair Elect, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair.

“The NAPBS just celebrated its 15th year as an association and serving on the NAPBS board of directors for the last nine of those years has been an incredible experience,” said Standerwick, who was awarded a plaque for her service. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to support this organization and honored to have been elected by my industry peers to serve our industry in a leadership role.”

Standerwick concluded her board service at the 2018 NAPBS Annual Conference earlier this month. She joined ESR – a leading global provider of background screening – in April of 2015 and has more than 27 years of experience in all facets of workforce screening solutions with extensive knowledge of background screening, drug testing, and occupational health testing.

“NAPBS continues to be instrumental in promoting ethical, high standards for background screening firms as well as supporting consumer education. I am proud of my time serving this great organization and our industry and will forever be better for the experience,” Standerwick added.

While serving as NAPBS Chair, Standerwick wrote an article that was published in USA Today describing background screening as “a commitment to public safety.” Standerwick wrote that “negative publicity associated with negligent hiring – especially as the result of a less than thorough background check, or worse, no background check – can devastate the very foundation of a trusted organization.”

Standerwick believes the NAPBS, at its heart, is a volunteer organization. “The participation of our members is vital to the success of our association,” she wrote in an NAPBS Journal. “The glue that holds our association together is our volunteers.  It’s true that no one person makes an organization great – that it’s the collective that shapes the whole.  This is especially true of a volunteer organization like NAPBS.”

Standerwick will remain actively involved with the NAPBS government relations committee, serving on the Governance Advisory Group, Finance Committee, and chairing the Ethics Committee. She will continue to participate in legislative advocacy efforts on behalf of the NAPBS and the screening industry.

“Dawn’s dedication and selfless contributions to NAPBS are a model for everyone,” background screening industry veteran Bruce Berg wrote in a report on the 2018 NAPBS Annual Conference.

Founded as a non-profit trade association in 2003, the NAPBS currently represents nearly 900-member companies around the globe who are engaged in employment and tenant background screening. The NAPBS is the leader in promoting generally accepted and reliable standards for background screening professionals and organizations. To learn more, visit www.napbs.com.
