Attorney Lester Rosen, the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of leading global background check provider Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), will present a live webinar entitled “Avoiding Illegal Pre-Employment Screening Practices: Update on Background Checks, Ban the Box, Criminal Records, and Salary Secrecy Law” on Friday, July 19, 2019, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time.
During the webinar produced by Clear Law Institute, Rosen – author of “The Safe Hiring Manual” – will show how employers can get caught in the middle of competing laws when hiring. On one hand, a single bad hire can result in a legal and financial nightmare. At the same time, screening is increasingly regulated by state and federal legislation as a result of litigation over allegedly illegal practices.
Consequently, employers must carefully navigate through the screening process to avoid bad hires and prevent legal action by ensuring an applicant’s rights were not violated under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidance on criminal records, “Ban the Box,” or salary history bans. At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to describe:

The webinar has been approved for 1.5 recertification credit hours toward general recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). Clear Law Institute is recognized by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM.
