December 2013 Employment Situation Report Shows Gain of Only 74000 Jobs

Total nonfarm employment in the United States edged up by only 74,000 jobs in December 2013 while the unemployment rate declined from 7 percent to 6.7 percent and the number of unemployed persons dropped from 10.9 million to 10.4 million, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — DECEMBER 2013’ released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. New and Revised E-Verify Memorandums of Understanding Now Effective for Existing Users

In December 2013, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released new and revised Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) related to the E-Verify electronic employment eligibility verification program. The MOUs have a revision date of June 1, 2013 that may be found at the bottom of each MOU page. The revised MOUs became effective for new users on December 8, 2013. December 2013 ADP National Employment Report Shows 238000 Jobs Added

Private sector employment in the United States increased by 238,000 jobs from November 2013 to December 2013 led by a gain of 108,000 jobs in small businesses, according to the December 2013 ADP National Employment Report® produced by Automatic Data Processing, Inc. San Francisco Proposes Ordinance to Ban Most Private Employers from Asking about Criminal Records on Job Applications

Legislation proposed by members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors – Ordinance No. 131192 – would expand existing “Ban the Box” rules that prevent city agencies from asking applicants about criminal convictions on job applications to include most private employers in the city, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.
