October 2013 Employment Situation Report Shows Gain of 204000 Jobs

Total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States rose by 204,000 jobs in October 2013 while the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.3 percent and the number of unemployed persons remained mostly unchanged at 11.3 million, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — OCTOBER 2013’ released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. Seattle Ban the Box Ordinance Limiting Use of Criminal Records by Employers Takes Effect November 1

Starting November 1, 2013, employers in Seattle, Washington will need to comply with new “Ban the Box” legislation – Ordinance 124201 – that limits the use criminal history records by employers for employment screening during the initial hiring process.
