Medical Identity Theft in United States Increased Nearly 20 Percent in Past Year According to Survey

Medical identity theft increased nearly 20 percent compared to the year before in the United States and affected an estimated 1.84 victims with the total out-of-pocket medical costs for medical identity theft victims reaching $12.3 billion, according to the 2013 Survey on Medical Identity Theft conducted by the Ponemon Institute and sponsored by the Medical Identity Fraud Alliance (MIFA) with support from ID Experts. August 2013 Employment Situation Report from Bureau of Labor Statistics Shows Increase of 169000 Jobs

Total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States increased by 169,000 jobs in August 2013 while the unemployment rate edged down to 7.3 percent and the number of unemployed persons dropped to 11.3 million, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — AUGUST 2013’ report released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). New Jersey Limits Ability of Employers to Access Social Media Accounts of Employees and Job Applicants

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has signed into law Assembly Bill A2878/S1915 that limits the ability of employers to require employees and job applicants to disclose user names, passwords, or other means for accessing social media accounts such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter or other services through electronic communications devices.
