The New York City Council is expected to pass a bill – “Stop Credit Discrimination in Employment Act” (Int. No. 261-A) – that will bar employers from viewing the credit reports of job seekers and also prohibit them from asking about credit scores in job interviews, according to an exclusive report from the New York Daily News. Apple Bans Construction Workers with Criminal Records from Building New Campus

Several construction workers hired to help build a new campus in Cupertino, California for tech giant Apple were let go from their jobs in January because of prior felony criminal convictions, according to a report from The San Francisco Chronicle. Virginia to Ban the Box on State Job Applications

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has signed Executive Order 41 to “Ban the Box” and remove questions about the criminal history of applicants from state job applications, according to a news release on the Governor’s website. The Order also makes clear that the criminal history of state job applicants shall not be a determining factor in employment decisions unless the criminal history of state job applicants bears specific relation to the job for which they are being considered. IRS Warns Taxpayers about Phone Scams
