Total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States rose by 165,000 jobs in April 2013 while the unemployment rate dipped to 7.5 percent and the number of unemployed persons remained at 11.7 million, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — APRIL 2013’ report released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The average annual rate of workplace violence perpetrated against local, county, state, and federal government employees in 2011 was three times greater than that of private sector workers, according to the report ‘Workplace Violence Against Government Employees, 1994–2011 (NCJ 241349)’ released by the U.S. Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). Total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States increased by 236,000 jobs in February 2013 while the unemployment rate dropped to 7.7 percent – the lowest level since December 2008 – and the number of unemployed persons dipped to 12 million, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — FEBRUARY 2013’ released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The report also revised the change in nonfarm employment for December 2012 from 196,000 jobs added up to 219,000 jobs added and the change for January 2013 was revised from 157,000 jobs added down to 119,000 jobs added. Total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States increased by 157,000 jobs in January 2013 while the unemployment rate at 7.9 percent and number of unemployed persons at 12.3 million changed little during the month, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — JANUARY 2013’ released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The report also revised the change in nonfarm employment for December 2012 from 155,000 jobs added up to 196,000 jobs added and the change for November 2012 was revised from 161,000 jobs added up to 247,000 jobs added.
