Following three months of average gains of 246,000 jobs per month, total nonfarm payroll employment in the United States slowed in March 2012, rising only by 120,000 jobs, while the unemployment rate fell to 8.2 percent, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — MARCH 2012’ released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. The report also changed employment figures for January 2012 from a gain of 284,000 jobs down to 275,000 jobs, while February 2012 figures were revised from a gain of 227,000 jobs up to 240,000 jobs. Nonfarm payroll employment rose by 227,000 jobs in February 2012 while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.3 percent, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — FEBRUARY 2012’ report released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The report also changed employment figures for December 2011 from a gain of 203,000 jobs to 223,000 jobs, while January 2012 figures were revised from a gain of 243,000 jobs to 284,000 jobs. Led by widespread job growth in the private sector, ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION – JANUARY 2012’ report released today by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reveals total nonfarm payroll employment added 243,000 jobs in January 2012 while the unemployment rate decreased to 8.3 percent and the number of unemployed persons fell to 12.8 million. According to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION – DECEMBER 2011’ from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, total nonfarm payroll employment added 200,000 jobs in December 2011 with most gains occurring in transportation and warehousing, retail trade, manufacturing, and health care. In addition, the change in total nonfarm payroll employment for October 2011 was revised from a gain of 100,000 jobs up to 112,000 jobs while the change for November 2011 was revised from a gain of 120,000 jobs down to 100,000 jobs. Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 120,000 jobs and the unemployment rate fell to 8.6 percent in November 2011 as employment continued to trend up in retail trade, leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and health care, according to ‘THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION – NOVEMBER 2011’ from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. In more good news, the change in total nonfarm payroll employment for September 2011 was revised from 158,000 jobs to 210,000 jobs and the change for October 2011 was revised from 80,000 jobs to 100,000 jobs.
