Millennials in Workforce Will Make Employers Change Methods of Background Screening Job Applicants

Population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau have found that Millennials – defined as people aged 18 to 34 in 2015 – numbered 75.4 million and in 2015 surpassed the 74.9 million Baby Boomers aged 51 to 69, according to a Pew Research Center article. Use of Social Media Background Checks Increased 500 Percent in Past Decade

The number of employers using “social media background checks” to screen job candidates increased 500 percent over the past decade, according to the annual CareerBuilder social media recruitment survey, with 60 percent of employers using social media to research job candidates in 2016, up significantly from 52 percent in 2015, 22 percent in 2008, and 11 percent in 2006, when the survey was first conducted.
