Three More States Join E-Verify RIDE Program Beginning July 31

Arizona, Maryland, and Wyoming became the latest states to join the Records and Information from DMVs for E-Verify (RIDE) program beginning on July 31, 2017. These three states join Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin in the RIDE program. Continue reading

USCIS Publishes Revised Form I-9 on July 17

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a revised version of the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification on July 17, 2017. Employers will be able to use this revised version or continue using the Form I-9 with a revision date of 11/14/16 N through September 17, 2017. On September 18, 2017, employers must use the revised form with a revision date of 07/17/17 N. Employers should also continue following existing storage and retention rules for any previously completed Form I-9s. Continue reading

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is telling employees who used the new Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification downloaded between November 14, 2016 – the date the revised version of the Form I-9 was published – and November 17, 2016, to review the form to ensure Social Security numbers (SSNs) of employees appear correctly in Section 1, according to a post on the “What’s New” page in the I-9 Central section of the USCIS website. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has introduced the first budget submitted by President Donald Trump’s Administration – ‘America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again’ – that invests $15 million to begin implementation of mandatory nationwide use of the E-Verify Program as part of a $44.1 billion net discretionary budget for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (UCSIS) is helping employers using E-Verify for more than 10 years by issuing “Instructions to Download Historic Records Reports in E-Verify” to retain case information by downloading the new Historic Records Reports containing E-Verify cases dated on or before December 31, 2006, that will be purged after March 31, 2017.
