Attorney Les Rosen, a safe hiring expert and President of accredited background check firm Employment Screening Resources (ESR), will present the webcast ‘Background Checks and Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)’ on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET at the HR.com’s Institutes for Human Resources (IHR) Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) Virtual Workshop. “A growing trend among employers is to use Recruitment Process Outsourcing to outsource the entire recruitment process from job profiling to onboarding,” explains Rosen, author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual.’ “However, both the RPOs and employers need to understand that outsourcing the process does not relieve either party of their due diligence obligations. Unless the parties clearly understood who is doing what, selecting employees through RPO can leave both recruiters and employers vulnerable to lawsuits.”
The expanding use of Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) raises issues of risk-management and due diligence that employers and RPO organizations cannot afford to overlook. An employer can still be sued for negligent hiring regardless of who does the recruiting. If an RPO organization performs insufficient due diligence resulting in harm, it is likely that an employer in turn may sue the RPO. For an RPO organization, one bad placement can mean the loss of business, lawsuits, and damage to professional reputation.
In the webcast ‘Background Checks and Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)’, Rosen will cover critical issues including why using a Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) service does not relieve employers of lawsuits for negligent hiring and the steps an RPO can take to protect both themselves and their clients when it comes to negligent hiring and background checks. The webcast will also address:
- Who should do the background checks,
- When they should be done,
- Legal considerations under federal law,
- Contractual issues that should be addressed in the RPO-Employer agreement,
- Best practices for background checks when using an RPO firm, and
- How employers and the RPO can minimize their risk of lawsuits for negligence.
“Participants in the webcast will learn how to minimize risks so they can focus on growing their business instead of risk being put out of business,” adds Rosen, who in 1997 founded Employment Screening Resources (ESR), a background check firm headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area and accredited by the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS).
Rosen is also a frequent presenter nationwide on employment screening and his speaking appearances have included numerous national and statewide conferences as part of the ‘ESR Speaks’ program. To learn more about future ‘ESR Speaks’ events, visit: https://www.esrcheck.com/Newsletter/ESR-Speaks/.
