Attorney Lester Rosen, a background check expert and founder and CEO of Employment Screening Resources (ESR), will host a 90 minute webinar for BankInfoSecurity.com titled ‘Risk Management: New Strategies for Employee Screening’ on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 starting at 10:00 AM Eastern (7:00 AM Pacific) to discuss the latest background screening trends facilitating risk management practices. For more information or to register for the webinar, visit: http://www.bankinfosecurity.com/webinars/risk-management-new-strategies-for-employee-screening-w-282.
“Like risk management itself, background screening must be ongoing,” explains Rosen, author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual,’ the first comprehensive book on employment screening. “As part of your risk management strategy, your organization likely conducts pre-employment background checks. But what are your screening strategies after you have made your hires?”
During the webinar aimed at a target audience of Senior Management, IT Professionals, and Information Security/Risk Management Personnel, Rosen – a frequent speaker on safe hiring issues for the ‘ESR Speaks’ program – will present post-hire screening strategies such as:
- How to conduct continual screening of key employees;
- What to do about newly-acquired employees in a merger or acquisition; and
- How to proceed when you do uncover past criminal offenses or falsified credentials of current employees.
Without using post-hire screening, Rosen asks whether employers would know, for instance, if:
- An employee’s personal finances have crumbled, and that individual is now at risk to embezzle;
- New evidence reveals a senior executive has blatantly falsified academic credentials; or
- You uncover a past criminal offense by a current employee – do you have policies to deal with the situation?
Rosen will also offer a brief overview of current background screening trends, including:
- The latest Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidance on the use of arrest and conviction records by employers;
- How to conduct continual screening;
- What to do when you learn about past criminal offenses or falsified credentials of a current employee;
- Proper screening procedures for newly-acquired employees in a merger or acquisition; and
- The “do’s and don’ts” of using social media in background screening and its proper role in a screening strategy.
