All courts in the state of California will be closed on Monday, April 1, 2013 in observance of César Chávez Day. The complete list of days when California courts will be closed in observance of holidays during 2013 is available at

César Chávez was a Mexican-American farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights activist who co-founded what later became the United Farm Workers (UFW) union. His day of birth, March 31, has become César Chávez Day, an official state holiday in California, Colorado, and Texas.

As a result of court closures for César Chávez Day, public record searches at county courthouses used for background checks may be delayed in the states observing the holiday.
