Veterans Day Information

California Courts and judicial branch offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. For a Court Holidays schedule that lists the days on which the California courts will be closed, visit http://www.courts.ca.gov/holidays.htm.

The California courts will be closed in observance of the following remaining holidays in 2014:

  • Veterans Day – Tuesday, November 11
  • Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 27
  • Day after Thanksgiving – Friday, November 28
  • Christmas Day – Thursday, December 25

According to the History of Veterans Day page on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website, Veterans Day is an official United States federal holiday observed annually on November 11 that honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The date November 11 marks the anniversary of the end of major hostilities in World War I that formally ceased when an armistice between Allied nations and Germany took effect in 1918 on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month: November 11, 1918.
