Attorney Lester Rosen, Founder and CEO of Employment Screening Resources (ESR) and author of “The Safe Hiring Manual,” will present a session titled ‘The New EEOC Criminal Record Guidance: Taking Practical Steps to Comply’ at HR West 2015 on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 10:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. To register for the event, visit http://hrwest.org/.
On April 25, 2012, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) approved updated Enforcement Guidance on the Consideration of Arrest and Conviction Records in Employment Decisions Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. “This updated EEOC guidance will have a profound impact on how employers in America hire,” says Rosen.
Since the EEOC has already filed lawsuits against employers for the discriminatory use of criminal records, Rosen will show how HR professionals may demonstrate compliance with the EEOC guidance by following a set of practical steps that identify potential problem areas. The EEOC Guidance is at http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/arrest_conviction.cfm.
HR West is the West Coast’s premier conference for HR professionals drawing over 1000 participants for more than 2 days of learning and networking. HR West 2015 takes place at the Oakland Convention Center in Oakland, California from Monday, March 2, 2014 to Wednesday, March 4, 2014. For more information, visit http://hrwest.org/.
