SF HR Star

Written By ESR News Blog Editor Thomas Ahearn

Attorney Lester Rosen, the founder and CEO of Bay Area background check firm Employment Screening Resources (ESR), will present a session titled “Background Check Trends for 2016 – What Every Employer Needs to Know,” at the 2016 San Francisco HR Star Conference on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the South San Francisco Conference Center in South San Francisco, California.

“Each year, ESR releases our highly anticipated Top Ten Background Check Trends list that covers the biggest changes that will impact the screening programs of employers,” says Rosen, author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual.’ “The presentation for HR Star will cover each top trend paired with strategies that employers can immediately put in to place to mitigate the impact upon their organizations.”

In the session for HR Star, Rosen will discuss cutting edge ways to increase efficiency in hiring, employer branding, and the applicant experience. This session is approved for recertification credits towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR designations through HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credits through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Topics will include:

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) class action lawsuits will continue to increase even if no one is actually harmed.
  • “Ban the Box” laws are at a tipping point but can go overboard and hurt ex-offenders and the unemployed.
  • S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidance for criminal records remains key concern.

The 2016 San Francisco HR Star Conference is a one day conference on a wide variety of human resources and employment law topics that draws more than 800 HR professionals from organizations in San Francisco and Northern California.
