The annual list of top trends from ESR features emerging influences in the background check industry selected by Rosen, the author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual’ and a noted background check expert. For 2017, Rosen selected trends involving topics as diverse as “Ban the Box,” second chance programs for ex-offenders, security for financial institutions, the “Gig Economy,” re-screening of employees, HR technology in hiring, “Millennials” in the workforce, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) lawsuits after the Supreme Court decision in the Spokeo case, workplace drug testing with state laws allowing Marijuana use, and possible discrimination issues involving “Big Data.”

‘ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends for 2017’ is approved for 1.0 (HR (General)) recertification credit hours toward PHR®, SPHR®, and GPHR® recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). The webinar is also worth 1.0 Professional Development Credit (PDC) from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP™) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP™).
