Attorney Lester Rosen, founder and CEO of global background check firm Employment Screening Resources® (ESR) and author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual,’ will make three presentations at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 2017 Talent Management Conference & Exposition taking place in Chicago, Illinois, from April 24 to 26, 2017. Rosen will present a session entitled ‘Social Media Background Screening. Is it Right for My Company?’ on Monday, April 24, 2017, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CST. This session will show attendees how to navigate through the legal and practical pitfalls of using social media and the Internet as part of the hiring process. The session is worth 1.25 SHRM Professional Development Credits (PDCs).
Rosen will also present a session entitled ‘Legal and Effective Reference Checking, Credential and Education Verification’ on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CST. This session will show attendees how to effectively verify past employment and education information and will offer tools for spotting phony credentials and fake degrees. The session is also worth 1.25 SHRM PDCs.
In addition, Rosen – who just completed a 3rd edition of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual’ that was published in January of 2017 and will be available at The SHRMStore during the conference – will participate in a shorter third session entitled ‘The Case for Hiring Slow and Firing Fast’ on the Smart Stage for the SHRM Talent Management Conference on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 3:50 p.m. to 4:08 p.m. CST.
ESR Vice President of Strategic Growth Dawn Standerwick, who was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS®) for the 2016-17 term, will be at the ESR Booth #633 during the conference along with ESR Account Executive Pri Murphy and ESR Key Clients Advocate Heidi Winterble.
