Federal courthouses in Southern Florida are reopening after closures caused by Hurricane Irma, a powerful Category 4 hurricane that made landfall in the Florida Keys on Sunday, September 10, 2017, according to the United States Courthouse website. Federal courthouses in Key West, Florida, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands remain closed until further notice.
U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit
- Miami: James Lawrence King Federal Justice Building is reopening Monday, September 18.
- Courthouses in Miami, Broward, St. Lucie, and Palm Beach are reopening Monday, September 18.
- Key West: Sidney M. Aronovitz U.S. Courthouse is closed until further notice.
- The Fort Myers courthouse is reopening Monday, September 18.
District Court of the Virgin Islands
- St. Thomas: Courthouse closed until further notice.

According to the Hurricane Irma page on Wikipedia.org, the storm caused catastrophic damage in Barbuda, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Anguilla and the Virgin Islands. As of September 18, the hurricane has caused at least 84 deaths, including 39 in the United States.
Hurricane Irma comes on the heels of Hurricane Harvey, another Category 4 hurricane that made landfall near Rockport, Texas, on August 25, 2017, and caused – along with deaths, flooding, and widespread damage – several court closures in Texas and Louisiana.

Among the many charities accepting donations to help the victims of Hurricane Irma are the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. The Miami Foundation offers a list of Hurricane Irma Relief Organizations helping to lead local Hurricane Irma relief efforts.
