Written By ESR News Blog Editor Thomas Ahearn

Attorney Lester Rosen, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of global background check firm Employment Screening Resources® (ESR) and author of “The Safe Hiring Manual,” will speak about “Background Checks: Best Practices, Trends, and Legal Compliance” at the September membership meeting of the Flathead Valley SHRM affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

The event “Background Checks: Best Practices, Trends, and Legal Compliance” will take place from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2018, in Room 139 in the Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) Arts & Technology Building at 777 Grandview Drive in Kalispell, Montana. The event will also be available via satellite at the FVCC Libby Campus at 223 Commerce Way in Libby, Montana.

Rosen is a frequent presenter nationwide on background screening issues at SHRM events. In April 2018, Rosen spoke at the 2018 SHRM Talent Conference & Exposition held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was featured in an article about the conference by SHRM and warned that using social media to screen job applicants can lead to “a world of privacy and discrimination problems.”

In June 2018, Rosen spoke at the 2018 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition in Chicago, Illinois, about a strategic approach to a legally compliant and effective background screening program. The session audited key areas of legal compliance to help attendees hire the best while avoiding legal fallout when screening job applicants since organizations need a strategy to comply with due diligence obligations.
