The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) – a non-profit trade association representing the background screening industry – is seeking experienced presenters for its 2020 Mid-Year Legislative and Regulatory Conference that will be held from April 19 to 21, 2020, in Arlington, Virginia.

The Mid-Year Legislative & Regulatory Conference is held each year in the spring with a focus is on regulation, legislation, education, and compliance related to the background screening industry. The NAPBS is looking for a variety of topics that would include but not limited to:

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliance and developments.
  • Federal and state law compliance.
  • Global screening.
  • Business practices (e.g., social media, HR processes, growth, development, etc.).
  • Technology (IT, Data Security, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, etc.).
  • Tenant screening.
  • Drug testing.

Presentations should be designed to educate attendees working within the background screening industry and be geared toward foundational or advanced level learning. The deadline for submissions is December 6, 2019. Interested parties may submit their proposed presentations here.

In addition, Advocacy Day occurs the day after the Mid-Year Conference and attendees will visit Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and work to collectively influence positive change for the background screening profession. NAPBS members may download the Advocacy Day Toolkit here.
