Do you know who you are hiring? Although employers may treat resumes as facts, they are a marketing tool for many job applicants. Since resume fraud is a growing problem, Attorney Lester Rosen, the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), will present a live webinar titled “Lies and Resumes” on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
“When an applicant’s resume misrepresents things like past job titles, responsibilities, employment dates, skills, experience, or academic credentials, employers waste valuable time and run the risk of making a bad hiring decision,” said Rosen, author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual.’ “Most employers know from experience that if an applicant got the job fraudulently, he or she is likely to be a poor performer.”
Human Resource (HR) professionals, hiring managers, recruiters, and background screening firms have all seen an alarming increase in exaggeration by job applicants on resumes. In addition, resume fraud is made easier by the Internet where there are websites that will create a false employment history for applicants as well as websites that will provide applicants with worthless degrees from online “diploma mills.”
During the webinar produced by compliance experts Aurora Training Advantage, Rosen will show attendees how to legally check an applicant’s references and verify education credentials, how background checks can help guard against resume fraud, and also provide practical tools that can be used immediately to prevent bad hiring decisions by employers based on resume fraud.
The webinar is approved for 1.5 recertification credit hours toward general recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). Aurora Training Advantage is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) and the webinar is valid for 1.5 PDCs for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
