The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released for public comment its Draft Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2022-2026 which is under review and subject to approval by the full Commission before becoming final, according to an EEOC press release. Comments must be submitted here by December 5, 2022.

The Strategic Plan serves as a framework for achieving the EEOC’s mission through the strategic application of law enforcement, preventing employment discrimination, and advancing equal employment opportunities through education and outreach, and organizational excellence. The plan is guided by three values:

  • Commitment to equal employment opportunity
  • Accountability
  • Integrity

Every four fiscal years, Congress requires government agencies to develop and post a strategic plan on their public website that lays the foundation for more detailed annual plans, budgets, and related program performance information. The EEOC currently operates under the Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2018-2022.

The EEOC also publishes a Strategic Enforcement Plan (SEP) that establishes substantive area priorities for advancing equal employment opportunity and preventing and remedying discrimination in the workplace. The agency will seek public comment on a Draft SEP for Fiscal Years 2023-2027 at a later date.

The EEOC advances opportunity in the workplace by enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. The EEOC offers information about race and color discrimination, sex discrimination, national origin discrimination, and disability discrimination. To learn more about the EEOC, visit www.eeoc.gov.
