The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) – an agency within the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) that assures safe and healthy working conditions – has announced a meeting of the Federal Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health (FACOSH) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT on July 13, 2023.
More information is posted in the Federal Register and will be on the FACOSH webpage prior to the meeting. Members of the public may attend the FACOSH meeting by joining online. Public and member attendance at the meeting is online only. Public participation will be in listen-only mode. The tentative agenda will include:
- The FACOSH subcommittee’s work on addressing agencies’ effective use of occupational safety and health management systems.
- OSHA’s warehouse initiative.
- OSHA’s work on workplace violence.
FACOSH advises on matters relating to the occupational safety and health of federal employees, including how to reduce the number of injuries and illnesses in the federal workforce, and how to encourage federal executive branch departments and agencies to establish and maintain effective occupational safety and health programs.
In March 2023, OSHA published its 2022 Establishment Specific Injury and Illness Data based on reports by more than 300,000 establishments, according to an OSHA news release. The information from OSHA helps identify unsafe conditions and workplace hazards that may cause occupational injuries and illness.
