California Ban The Box Guide

On January 1, 2018, a “Ban the Box” law took effect in California that restricts the ability of employers in the state to inquire into, and make employment decisions based upon, the conviction histories of job applicants. In addition to the statewide rule in California, local Ban the Box laws with similar functions also exist in the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
