Employment Screening Resources (ESR), a leading global provider of on demand background check services, will co-host a third webinar in a three part series on recruiting and hiring with leading HR and payroll software provider Paycor. This webinar, entitled ‘Strategies and Trends for Background Checks in 2016 That Will Impact You,’ is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 2:15 PM ET/11:15 PT.
The hour long webinar co-hosted by ESR Founder and CEO Attorney Lester S. Rosen and ESR Vice President Strategic Growth Dawn Standerwick is part of Paycor’s Coffee Break Webinar Series. The session will explore the “watch-outs” associated with criminal background checks, including U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Guidance and the spreading “Ban the Box” movement.
Attendees of the webinar will learn there has been a seismic shift in the rules surrounding the use of background checks. New litigation and governmental regulation has completely reshaped the landscape. Companies that have not adjusted their policies for background checks risk expensive class action lawsuits. Creating a compliant use policy is a necessity for any company performing background checks.
Rosen founded Employment Screening Resources (ESR) in 1997 and is the author of “The Safe Hiring Manual,” the first comprehensive book on background checks and hiring. He is a frequent speaker on due diligence and background checks. He was chairperson of the steering committee that founded the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS), and served as first co-chair.
Standerwick is an industry professional with 25 years of experience with background checks, drug testing, and occupational health testing. She is a long time member of the Board of Directors for the NAPBS, and is chairperson elect of NAPBS and becomes chair this year. She is actively involved on the government relations committee and participates in legislative advocacy efforts on behalf of NAPBS.
Each year Rosen selects the annual ‘ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends’ that feature emerging and influential trends in the screening industry. For 2016, the top trends for background checks included increased government oversight of accuracy and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) class action lawsuits.
