The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) has announced that a record-breaking 763 background screening professionals attended the 2016 NAPBS Annual Conference held in Palm Desert, California on September 18-20, 2016, according to a press release from the NAPBS.
“NAPBS is committed to leading the way in excellence in the screening profession and we were excited to welcome so many members and industry partners who are also committed to excellence in our profession,” NAPBS Chair Dawn Standerwick stated in the press release.
The 2016 NAPBS Annual Conference featured three days of educational programming focused around the theme of “Leading the Way” and the sold-out Exhibit Showcase highlighted 57 companies that supply products or services to the background screening profession.
The NAPBS offered members 24 educational sessions at the conference presented on a variety of topics affecting the background screening industry that included international screening, legislative issues, compliance guidelines, and employment discrimination.
In addition, the NAPBS introduced new educational tracks at the 2016 Annual Conference to assist attendees wishing to focus on a topic for intensive study. These new educational tracks included Legal/Compliance, Business, International, Drug Testing, and Tenant Screening.
The NAPBS also supported Team Rubicon and Sue Weaver Cause through donations on behalf of speakers and also hosted a charity golf tournament and raised $13,500 to benefit the Sue Weaver CAUSE, a nonprofit organization advocating for the proper use of criminal background checks.
Upcoming NAPBS events include the 2017 Mid-Year Legislative & Regulatory Conference that will be held in in Washington, D.C. on March 19-21, 2017, and the 2017 Annual Conference that will be held in Orlando, Florida on September 17-19, 2017. The complete NAPBS press release is available here.
