ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends

Written By ESR News Blog Editor Thomas Ahearn

Employment Screening Resources® (ESR) – a leading global background check provider – is releasing the 13th annual “ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends” for 2020 that feature emerging and influential trends in the background screening industry. The list of top trends are being made available during January of 2020 at www.esrcheck.com/Tools-Resources/ESR-Top-Ten-Background-Check-Trends/.

Since 2008, ESR has selected background check trends that have impacted the background screening industry. Trends for 2019 included Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) lawsuits, the growth of “Ban the Box” laws, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Each trend for 2020 is being announced via the ESR News Blog during January of 2020 and listed on the “ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends” web page.

ESR founder and CEO Attorney Lester Rosen helped with selecting the trends. He was chairperson of the steering committee that founded the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) – formerly known as the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) – and served as first co-chair. In September of 2019, Rosen received the Mike Sankey Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor awarded by the PBSA.

Founded by Rosen in 1997, Employment Screening Resources® (ESR) is a global background check firm headquartered in Northern California. ESR is accredited by the PBSA, undergoes annual SOC 2® Type 2 audits, adheres to the Privacy Shield Framework, and was named to 2019 HRO Today Magazine Baker’s Dozen for Enterprise Pre-Employment Screening Services.
